TOUGH. SHARP. VERSATILE. ADAPTABLE. REMARKABLY LIGHT.

It isn’t hard to see why The Speedgoat is one of our most popular blades. It can handle just about anything — from caping, gutting, skinning, and deboning an elk to cleaning fish, cutting line, and so much more. And at just 1.7 oz, this do-it-all blade is specifically crafted to be packed to the most difficult-to-access locations so you can pursue your passions faster.

The Speedgoat takes its name from the Pronghorn Antelope native to Montana and the American West. As the fastest land mammal in the Western Hemisphere, it moves through the toughest terrain with speed and precision, making it the perfect symbol for our lightest hunting blade.

FEATURES

MAGNACUT Stainless Steel
As a cryogenically heat-treated stainless steel, MAGNACUT provides the perfect blend of toughness, edge retention, and corrosion resistance. Unlike other stainless steel blades, MAGNACUT can be easily resharpened — even by novice knife owners. More wear-resistant than other stainless steels, and more corrosion-resistant than carbon steel, MAGNACUT is in a class of its own. Ultralight Design
While the G-10 handles of our other blades are already light, we wanted to take our approach to ultralight knives step further. After skeletonizing the tang (steel part of the handle) to shed unnecessary ounces, we wrapped it in 550 paracord to minimize load. The Speedgoat’s blade is also ultra-thin, measuring just 0.095” thick at the spine.
550 Paracord Handle
Wrapping the handle in seven feet of 550 paracord was just as much for minimizing weight as maximizing versatility. It can fix a broken boot lace, tie down a tent, hang meat in a tree, act as a tourniquet for wounds, or help in any number of unexpected, emergency situations. And when the paracord is removed from the handle, the Speedgoat still fits securely in its sheath.
Full Size Handle Length
Too often, ultralight knives have shortened, unwrapped handles that can quickly wear out your hands as you process an animal. Despite its ultralight design, the Speedgoat has enough handle to keep your hands comfortable enough for extended use.

THE MAGNACUT SPEEDGOAT FIXED BLADE - GREY

Best fishing knife I ever used.

It's extremely light and easy to carry in a tackle box or on my hip. Where it starts excelling is cleaning fish. Fish are quite slimy and the paracord really helps me secure a grip better than any G10 or micarta handle. The spine works great for scaling and while the knife doesn't flex much, I can still fillet a thin strip (about a 2 inch cross section) if I can keep the knife flat and close to the cutting surface. The only drawback to the paracord is, it takes a lot of soap and water to wash the fish smell off. I guess worst case I can just wrap a new handle (pretty easy).

Update - New Wrap Option

Decided to see whether 1100lb para cord (16 internal strands) would work. It does, but tough to get through the hole at the end of the tang more than once. So I cut about 8" of the internal strands out of each end. It does give a more substantial grip, and I like it. The overall length to wrap the handle is about 5-5.5'. YMMV. It works on the Goat, but probably overkill on the mini-Goat. Took a pic next to the 550 cord, which will go in my pack for re-wrap or field use. Great knife!!!

laser cutter marks on spine

This is for the SpeedGoat Magnacut. I was so excited to receive this knife, and so disappointed when it arrived. I would have rated 5 stars, easily, except there are laser cutter marks all along the back of the spine. I also have a cerakote knife and although it also has marks they are painted over so not noticeable. Unfortunately, on the magnacut they just scream "we cut corners” - I asked customer service about it since I thought maybe I just got a bad day in the shop, but they confirmed “Those are laser marks from the knife being cut from the steel. It is normal for a production knife.” I have dozens of blades that range from totally cheap mass produced, through semi-custom, to full custom – not a single one has manufacturing marks on it. I probably will finish the knife myself, but not what I was expecting from an outfit that has “Master Bladesmith” on the box.
