When we launched Montana Knife Company, the Blackfoot was our flagship blade. Now, we’re elevating this iconic design with our first production Damascus offering: the MKC Damascus Blackfoot. 

Featuring Damascus steel forged by Montana bladesmith Will Stelter and a premium-grade desert ironwood burl handle, this is more than a hunting knife. It’s a convergence of Montana craftsmanship, custom knife-making tradition, and the beginning of MKC's collector-grade custom division.

You’ve been asking for a Damascus Blackfoot since we released our limited edition Speedgoat several years ago, and we’ve been listening. This knife marks a new chapter for MKC, one where we honor the custom knife-making community while giving you an heirloom piece that’s as functional as it is collectible. 

Every Damascus Blackfoot is unique, with steel patterns that will never be replicated. Whether you pass it down through generations or take it into the field, this blade is built to perform and endure.

MKC x Will Stelter Collaboration

DAMASCUS STEEL BY WILL STELTER

Forged by one of Montana’s most sought-after bladesmiths, this Damascus steel unites artistry and function.

The blade is crafted from 1080 and 15N20 high-carbon steel, premium materials that create the distinctive layered patterns Damascus is known for. It’s those fingerprint-like patterns that make each blade one of a kind. Will Stelter, a highly respected knife maker and CEO of Belgrade, Montana’s Stelter Manufacturing Co., forged this steel specifically for MKC. Heat treated to the same standards as our hunting knives, this Damascus performs beautifully in the field.

Just like our 52100 Ball Bearing, this knife is made from a carbon steel, and its important to keep the blade waxed to prevent rust.
PREMIUM-GRADE DESERT IRONWOOD BURL HANDLE

We selected the finest premium-grade desert ironwood burl for this custom offering, far above the standard we apply to our production knives.

Desert ironwood burl is prized for its striking grain patterns, exceptional durability, and natural beauty that only improves with age. This premium-grade material features deep, rich colors and dramatic figuring that complements the Damascus steel perfectly. The ergonomic handle shape mirrors the original Blackfoot design, providing the same comfortable, secure grip you’ve come to trust, now wrapped in one of nature’s most beautiful and resilient materials.

The Blackfoot’s proven drop point blade shape remains. Enough tip for detailed work, enough belly for skinning and processing.

At 3 3/8" inches, the blade length strikes the perfect balance between precision and capability. Whether you’re caping out an animal, handling delicate tear ducts, or processing larger game, this blade geometry has proven itself in the field time and again. The Damascus steel adds visual artistry to a shape that’s already stood the test of real-world hunting conditions.

Each Damascus Blackfoot comes with a hand-crafted ostrich leather sheath from Teton Leather.

The MKC Custom Damascus Blackfoot doesn’t come with our typical Kydex sheath. Instead, we’ve partnered with Teton Leather to create custom sheaths worthy of this collector-grade blade. Crafted from premium ostrich leather, each sheath protects your Damascus Blackfoot and adds to its heirloom appeal. The attention to detail in the leatherwork matches the craftsmanship of the blade itself.
