Short version, I love it. Great for a low key carry anytime I want something bigger than a Swiss Army knife. Carries well, IWB. Well made, sharp, plan to get a lot of use out of it.
Long version:
I’ll start with the sheath because that seems to be the most controversial part of this package in some of the older reviews. I did initially have some issues seating the blade back in consistently. But after a break in period, I’m not really having any more issues. The blade would catch the inside of the sheath and I shaved off some little bits over time going through repetitions. I don’t own a ton of kydex sheaths but this wasn’t something I’ve dealt with before. You also don’t get that resounding *click that I’m used to when this blade pops down into place. That said, you still get a positive *thud (more of a feeling than a sound) so it’s still perfectly clear when the blade is all the way in.
The sheath itself is perfect for iwb- this is the only way I’ve really carried it so far. It’s very easy to forget about on your waistband. Appendix or behind the hip, even in gym shorts. Clip has great retention too. the wobble that’s built into it feels weird at first, like it’s not as secure. Another point that takes a little getting used to. But the comfort bonus is immediately apparent the first time you sit down and the handle just moves out of the way.
Highlighting comfort in general, I’m really surprised this carries iwb as well as it does given how long it is in the handle. Hugs the body well, minimal printing. Comfortable wearing this around town or in the car for long drives.
The knife itself feels phenomenal in my hand. Blade came very sharp. I stropped it but didn’t need to. Cuts limes better than my kitchen knifes (probably time to touch those up).
Hoping to get my first real use in this spring with turkey season but really will test it out next winter - planning to give this a try as my duck hunting knife. It will be getting a lot of hard use in and around the water. Blade feels like it may be a bit long for breasting ducks compared to a dedicated bird and trout, but I’m very curious to see how it does. I think the tip has more than enough finesse. I’m also not sure yet how I’ll wear this on my waders. If an alternative sheath came out I’d probably buy it just to be able to have one that straps the knife horizontally or upside down on my chest. That said I may have to follow up this review next winter.
Again, I am more than happy - glad to have made it on one of the drops. Honestly I was between this and a Blackfoot. Been watching for a little while and this dropped first. I’m sure I’ll get in on one of the Blackfoot drops eventually too. Keep up the work y’all!
