Montana Knife Company built its reputation on knives that perform in the backcountry. But we kept hearing the same feedback: “I want to carry an MKC knife every single day, not just on hunts.”

The Castle Rock is our answer.

A Fixed Blade That Lives in Your Pocket, Not on Your Belt

The Castle Rock is the second knife in our Rock series, a lineup that shares a handle platform but swaps out blade profiles for different applications. The first was the Badrock, a clip point with a taller blade and a more aggressive feel. The Castle Rock takes a different approach.

Where the Badrock leans a bit cowboy, the Castle Rock leans utility. It’s a lower-profile drop point designed for the daily tasks you actually encounter: opening packages, cutting zip ties, slicing cord, and breaking down boxes.

If the Badrock is the fixed blade for someone who works with their hands on a job site, the Castle Rock is for the person who wants a knife on them at all times, whether they’re at the office, running errands, or heading into the field for a weekend.

More Control for the Cuts You Actually Make

The Castle Rock’s three-inch blade features a fine tip drop point, a geometry that’s become a hallmark of MKC’s design language.

The fine tip gives you precision for detail work and controlled cuts, and the drop point shape provides enough belly for general slicing. It’s a subtle but meaningful departure from the Badrock’s clip point: less blade height, more control, and a shape that lends itself to everyday utility.

A Handle You Won’t Want to Put Down

Pick up the Castle Rock, and you’ll notice the handle immediately. No sharp edges, hard corners, or flat planes.

The G10 scales are fully rounded with a slight palm swell that makes the whole grip feel organic, almost like holding a smooth river stone. We’ve joked internally that it’s like a worry rock. Once it’s in your hand, you’ll catch yourself reaching for it just because it feels good.

That smooth, organic shape serves a practical purpose, too. When you carry a fixed blade in your pocket, hard edges and sharp corners dig into your body every time you lean over, sit down, or bend at the waist.

The Castle Rock eliminates that problem entirely. The handle sits close to your body and buries deeper into your pocket than longer-handled knives, making it comfortable for all-day carry regardless of your build or what you’re wearing.

The G10 material itself won’t crack, chip, or absorb moisture. Titanium hardware keeps the scales locked tight over years of daily use. And even when your hands are wet or sweaty, the G10 keeps the Castle Rock secure in your grip.

Stays Sharp Longer, Resharpens Easier

We crafted the Castle Rock’s blade from MagnaCut stainless steel, cryogenically heat-treated for a rare combination of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance. Most steels force you to choose between those qualities. MagnaCut delivers all three.

For an everyday blade that handles cardboard, paracord, and the occasional apple, MagnaCut means your Castle Rock stays sharp longer than you’d expect. It’s more wear-resistant than other stainless steels, more corrosion-resistant than carbon steel, and easy to resharpen, even for owners who are new to blade maintenance.

Forget It’s There Until You Need It

We stripped the Castle Rock’s Kydex sheath down to the absolute minimum. It’s so compact that our deep carry clip barely fits on it. That’s by design.

A built-in retention screw lets you dial in the perfect blade tension, and the clip allows for deep-pocket carry or inside-the-waistband mounting. Whether you carry tip up in your front pocket or tucked at your waist, the Castle Rock and its sheath virtually vanish on your body.

This is a fixed blade that carries like a folder.

Free Sharpening for Life and Beyond

MKC Generations® is our promise to restore your knife to its original, unmatched working condition. We’ll clean, sharpen, repair, and even reshape your blades when necessary, and rewrap handles, all free of charge.

This promise doesn’t expire when you do. Pass the Castle Rock down to your kids, and they can pass it to theirs. MKC will honor the Generations® promise for the life of the knife, not the life of the owner.

Your Pocket Fixed Blade, Your Way

The Castle Rock wasn’t designed to sit in a display case or ride on your belt during hunting season. Every line, curve, and ounce was shaped around one vision: a fixed blade that disappears against your body until the moment you need it.

Whether you carry it in your pocket, on your waistband, or clipped inside your kit, this knife goes where you go.
