After specializing in ultralight knives for ounce-counting backcountry hunters, we wanted to create a blade with even more versatility. Designed to take on any task a hunter may face, the Stonewall Blackfoot Skinner is truly a do-it-all hunting knife. Perfectly curved for skinning, sharp enough for cutting, and stout enough for chopping, the Stonewall blade is as all-purpose as it gets.
As a Lincoln, Montana native, our founder and Master Bladesmith Josh Smith grew up hunting and fishing in this remarkable region. The Stonewall Blackfoot Skinner fittingly takes its name from two of the area’s standout landmarks: Stonewall Mountain, bordering the Scapegoat Wilderness to the north; and the Blackfoot River, bordering the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex to the south.

The MKC Stonwall Skinner is now one of my favorite tools to bring with me into the backcountry, when on the river and when I’m just out hiking. You never know what task might be in front of you, and this is so versatile—chops kindling, could skin an entire elk and will cut through rope in a second—such a great blade. It’s not only lightweight but rests comfortably in my hand and is very grippy when you put it to work.

5th MKC knife. Got this with the leather sheath and put a dangler on it. I like having a beefier belt knife that I can wear with a AZ spot and stalk style pack. So far, great knife. Super sharp. Feels really good in the hand. I didn’t think I would like the ball bearing steel as much as I do. However, I have a Stoned Goat in the ball bearing steel and I finally got to use it on a javelina this January. Held an edge very well. Still shaving hair when I got it home. It was very easy to touch it up on a ceramic rod and strop, even though it really didn’t need it. Aka that is why I pulled the trigger on the Stonewall. Very pleased. The leather sheath is very well made as well.
