ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Bevel Grinding Foreman with proven experience in
precision metal grinding, preferably in knife-making operations. In this role, you’ll be responsible for operating a Siepmann bevel grinding machine. You’ll work closely with our manufacturing and engineering teams to uphold MKC’s exacting quality standards and help train the next generation of operators. This is a key hands-on role for someone who takes pride in their work, understands steel, and thrives in a culture of craftsmanship and continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Grind and shape bevels on a variety of knife models using precision equipment (including Siepmann bevel grinders and surface grinders) 
  • Maintain symmetry, edge consistency, and proper blade geometry according to design specifications
  • Perform quality checks at every stage using calipers, micrometers, and visual inspection
  • Collaborate with the production team to improve efficiency without compromising quality
  • Troubleshoot grinding inconsistencies and provide feedback to design and heat treat teams
  • Help mentor and train junior operators or apprentices as needed
  • Maintain and clean grinding stations and ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently
  • Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a culture of quality, accountability, and craftsmanship
  • Maintaining coolant concentration and filtration systems 

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in bevel grinding, metal finishing, or precision fabrication
  • Proven ability to grind consistent, clean bevels on hardened steel
  •  Strong understanding of knife geometries, blade performance, and steel behavior under heat and pressure
  • Familiarity with custom and production-level grinding workflows
  • Comfortable using a variety of abrasives and belt grits to achieve desired finishes
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet tight tolerances
  • Willingness to contribute ideas and participate in continuous process improvement
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs

PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Experience operating Siepmann Bevel Grinders
  • Experience in other forms of grinding (blanchard, surface, double disc)
  • Passion for blades, tools, or outdoor gear
  • Familiarity with mass finishing equipment
