Working in law enforcement these days demands hypervigilance and continuity of action. This is why at my age and rank, I consider secondary weapons to be important for officer safety. I am a believer that weapon transition drills are important, and one that is not taught frequently is how to have a blade and gun drawn simultaneous, as well as how to defend yourself when the bad guy has you in a bad spot trying to take your firearm.
The Wargoat provides me a tactical option should things get bad quickly the concealability is nice, and the ability to ambidextrously engage with it is important.
While I use other MKC for other plainclothes options, the Wargoat is with me in uniform.

In my career field I have carried firearms daily and carrying a blade for worst case scenarios is an absolute must. I can’t name all the brands and styles I’ve tried, and all were lacking in some way. The problem has always been finding the right blade that balanced size, weight, strength, ergonomics and lethality. Enter MKC Wargoat…and problem solved, with absolute perfection! I had high expectations, and this knife and this company exceeded all of them! I like this knife. Alot. Very well designed and executed minimalist tool. For me, it's about as small and light as it could be without starting to compromise functionality/ performance. It's almost a light as the sheath and the distal taper and over-all thinness and geometry of the blade is about as thin as it could be while still feeling rigid and like it wont break under harsh utility or "tactical" use.
I was on the fence between this and the mini wargoat and I'm glad that I chose what I did; anything smaller would be too small/ uncomfortable for my 2XL glove-size hands. This one is just long enough for me to squeeze my 3 fingers on. the handle would be too small to feel secure if it wasnt for the ring which really locks the kinfe into my hand.
Finish is "very good" anything "meant" to be gripy (handle scales, jimping on the the spine and ring) is securely gripy but not sharp or uncomfortable. 2 areas I'd like to see some extra easing done to the edges are the inner edge of the ring and the finger side of the choil / guard.
Personal preference: I really dislike the chalky- texture of the DLC. I know high-polish might be too reflective for the super-ninja assassins out there, but for 99% of people I feel like a glass-smooth mirror polish DLC both looks better and provides a lower-drag cutting experience.
I also don't care for sharpening choils on blade that may be used in an emergency, but I appreciate that this one is super small and will eventually…
