The MKC Culinary Collection features all three knives from the collaboration between MKC Founder & Master Bladesmith, Josh Smith and renowned knife maker Mareko Maumasi — with his extensive knowledge as a bladesmith and experience in the restaurant industry. The knives are made with Magnacut Stainless Steel and finished with a black Cerakote® coating for optimal durability. The handles are constructed of G-10 and contoured for a comfortable grip and come in your choice of three colors: Black, MKC Orange, and Red.

The MKC Culinary Collection is the perfect set of tools for any chef looking to up their game. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, this collection has everything you need to tackle even the biggest jobs from the kitchen to the campsite.

When we launched MKC, we started with the Blackfoot blade because we wanted a great, all-purpose knife. We took the same approach with our culinary knives. The foundation of every great kitchen is a favorite chef’s knife, so we created the Bighorn, an 8-inch chef’s knife that can handle everything from carving a Thanksgiving turkey to dicing up cherry tomatoes to coring an apple.

MAGNACUT Stainless Steel
As a cryogenically heat-treated stainless steel, MAGNACUT provides the perfect blend of toughness, edge retention, and corrosion resistance. Unlike other stainless steel blades, MAGNACUT can be easily resharpened — even by novice knife owners. Ergonomic Handle:
It was important to us that our chef’s knife have an incredibly comfortable, ergonomic handle – because the relationship you have with this tool is through the handle. With zero hotspots and zero sharp corners, this knife will stay comfortable in your hand whether you’re chopping a few vegetables or using it for long prep sessions.
Knuckle Clearance:
Mareko designed the Bighorn’s cutting edge profile so that when it rests flat on a cutting surface, it gives the handle a nice upsweep to provide much more knuckle clearance than you typically see.
Sharpening Endurance:
Most chef’s knives come in at around two inches wide, but the Bighorn’s extra quarter inch extends its life in terms of sharpening. That results in a knife that will provide years of service to you, and that you can hand down to your children.
Angled Heel:
The unusual way the heel angles back down towards your fingers is a key design element that makes this knife unique. This purposeful design takes what usually counts as wasted space on a blade and puts it to work as a guard for your fingers, and even making the blade feel shorter than it is.

The Smith River Santoku Knife was crafted to be the perfect companion to the Big Horn Chef Knife. Where the Santoku shines is tackling any task that doesn’t require the extra length, weight, and slicing power of a larger chef’s knife. The Santoku’s smaller size, thinner blade & lighter weight, make it perfectly suited for tasks that require speed and precision over heavy-duty cutting. In Japanese cooking, the santoku knife typically serves as a vegetable knife. It’s handy for slicing, dicing, chopping, and mincing things like carrots, peppers, onions, cabbage, and any other veggies, fruits, herbs, or seafood in your kitchen.

Mareko designed the Santoku Knife’s tip to drop sharply down so owners can easily use it for fine chopping work or precision work like coring an apple. The wide blade also makes it perfect for scooping food off the cutting board.

The spine of the MKC Santoku sweeps up, and the wide blade and angled heel provide plenty of hand and knuckle clearance between you and your cutting surface.

The word petty in petty knife literally comes from the French word petit, which means “small.” While the Bighorn Chef’s Knife excels at large slicing tasks, like breaking down large fruits and vegetables or big cuts of meat, the smaller, handy MKC Petty Knife is perfect for finer tasks in the kitchen. Petty knives are essentially utility knives used for work done off the cutting board. It’s the knife you use when you’re cutting a vegetable in your hand or breaking down a chicken. This knife really excels in tasks like boning and smaller work. A petty knife’s narrow tip allows you to get into joints and work around corners. At the same time, it’s a very versatile and handy slicing knife & great for cutting up small fruit and vegetables.

Ergonomic G10 Handle
We designed the handle with the same bulletproof G10 material we use in our hunting knives. G10 is meant to stand up to abuse. It can stand up to all conditions in the field, and it can get wet, greasy, or bloody in the kitchen without becoming slick or suffering damage.
Fine Tip Blade
The MKC Petty Knife looks great, but it’s not just a pretty face. As with all MKC knives, it was important to us to design with function in mind. Mareko designed this blade shape to be narrower with a fine tip for delicate slicing and work in tight spaces. The blade shape is similar to the Big Horn but lighter and smaller in size making it extremely utilitarian to the point you’ll find yourself constantly reaching for it. The black Cerakote finish helps food easily slide off and quick to clean.
Angled Heel & Knuckle Clearance
The Little Big Horn Petty Knife’s blade was designed to be slightly wider than a traditional petty knife to give you more knuckle clearance than a traditional petty knife so you can easily use it for tasks both on or off the cutting board.

Best Cooking knives ever!!

I loved my first set so much I bought a second set. I don't care what knife you have in your hand today, drop it in the trash and pick up one of these. Everyone that sees them in our kitchen always asks about them. Great story, Awesome Family company and Brand to be proud of!!!

Stellar knives

I was hesitant at first to pay the price of the knives. BUT after receiving them, I realized the knives are extremely high quality. The bison leather role was a phenomenal extra addition as well. Excellent product at a deserving price point for the quality.

Best knife set I have ever owned - bar none!!!

I recently received my MKC Culinary Set and was thrilled. I had seen the set during the last drop (many months ago) and had been kicking myself for not buying it then. I even bought an MKC knife stand back in April waiting patiently for another drop. I was so psyched when I heard they would again be available - and jumped on it as soon as it went live. I have had my knives for more than 2 weeks and both my wife and I have used them extensively for all cutting work in the kitchen. They are flawless! The are beautifully balanced and cut like no other knife. My hand never gets tired regardless of what I am cutting! They also look amazing! I love the orange and black G-10 they really look sharp! I expect these to last a lifetime and am so pleased that I was able to get a set. Thanks so much too Montana Knife Company for making such incredible knives!!
